What if your PV input is significantly higher than your inverter's AC output?
When you pair a hybrid inverter with a PV system, it can produce much more power than the inverter is rated for. That can cause inverter clipping - more DC power is being fed into the inverter than it is rated for. When that happens, the inverter will produce its maximum output and no more. The excess amount of power is simply "clipped" off.
Let's say you have a 150sqm of rooftop fully covered by PV. You probably get a max of 30kW solar input. If you are using an inverter with up to 10kW AC output. If the solar panels work at full capacity on a sunny day, up to 20kW of solar energy will be wasted. If you are using 15kW of electricity in your home, you will be buying the additional 5kW of AC input from the grid. Even if your rooftop is generating much more than you need.
