Brought a BMW ix home from work to test out ev charging from the dpu. It would be a lot more miles added if I had more capacity. But the dpu had zero issues charging at 7.2kw on the 240v outlet using a standard home ev charger level 2.Gained about 10 miles or so. In an emergency that.could mean a lot. Can't make gas at home but you can make electricity!
This set up allows me to run all my circuits and use grid as backup only. I have cut my electric bill in half, while setting up my system, from $550 to $200. Now that I have my full system set up and running, with solar I expect my next electric bill to be $100 or less. I was able to run off grid with no KWh used from grid for several days, while sunny.
I have my refrigerator and freezer with a fan, internet, and 58” tv streaming connected (the essentials ). I have my input power coming from my hybrid minivan. It looks like a balanced load in/out…I had my refrigerator and freezer plugged in last night at 100% and had the idea to try this after my first coffee this morning …adds coffee maker to load. This is my starter pack and I love it. I plan on adding more capacity and connect it to my rooftop solar panels already installed.
